WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?

Each day will have a different focus and activity for both the body and mind. We will start every day with an early morning yoga practice and meditation and there will be a second practice later in the day for those who want to spend more time on the mat. The days will be full of activity, but there will be a nice flow to everything to avoid feeling rushed. We’ll sit down for dinner together at the end of the day to enjoy each other’s company, the amazing food and the relaxed experience of a traditional Italian meal.

Please note that there will be no refunds or discounts for arriving late, leaving early, flight cancellations, travel delays or illness. If you cancel your participation in a retreat for any reason outside the 60 days, the cancellation policy will apply, with no exceptions. We wish we could compensate people for unforeseen circumstances (injury, family emergency, etc), but to efficiently run our retreats, we have costs already incurred when reserving retreat centers and hotels. We have designed our cancellation policy to be as compassionate as possible in the case that your plans change. But to protect yourself further, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance.

IF YOU CANCEL YOUR RETREAT

60 days or more prior to the start of the yoga retreat, you receive 100% credit of the cost of the full retreat.

0-59 days prior to the start of the yoga retreat, you receive: no refunds or credits will be given.

IF WE CANCEL THE RETREAT

We have never had to cancel a retreat, however, if we do cancel a trip due too few participants, we will refund all deposits and payments you have paid. We cannot however compensate you for airfare or travel costs incurred. In the unlikely event that Samadhi Rising must cancel a yoga retreat due to weather, natural disaster or political upheaval, we cannot guarantee a refund – it will be depending on receiving a refund from the venue / tour operator we work with. To cover these risks, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance.

TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION

ITALY'S TRAVEL DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

Current Passport is now required when traveling to Italy. US citizens do not need a visa, but non-US citizens may need one. Please contact your airline or passport office.

DESTINATION AIRPORT

When booking flights to Italy you will want to fly into Florence or Pisa.

We recommend flying into Pisa airport, which is only 45 minutes away. You may also fly to Florence, which is the closest major city to fly into and one a half hours by train to Lucca's Train Station. Rome is also an option, however it's about three and half hours by train from Lucca. Ask us, we are happy to help with suggestions and travel advice.

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM PISA AIRPORT

The Pisa airport is about 54 km/34mi away and it takes about 45 minutes by taxi. Taxi information from Pisa Airport can be found here

Tau Touring also offers transfers from Pisa Aiport.

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM LUCCA TRAIN STATION

Lucca train station is 20 km/12.4mi away and it takes about 30 minutes by taxi. We reccomend arranging transportation in advance if possible. Below are two companies that offer transfers from Lucca Train Station:

SUGGESTED PACKING

Besides the basic packing and travel needs, here are a few things to think about bringing with you:

  • Bathing suit (on-site pool, spa)

  • Comfortable shoes (city walking, country hiking)

  • Yoga/workout clothes

  • Walking or Hiking Boots, Sandals

  • Day Pack

  • Journal

  • Favorite/Personal Toiletries (Borgo Giusto provides shampoo, conditioner, and soap).

  • Personal yoga props - there will be mats available and some props, however, if you have a prop you prefer or you simply cannot leave home without your yoga mat, feel free to bring them along

  • Plug adaptors / converters (see "electricity" below)

  • Light Jacket and Pants (please check the weather before arriving to ensure you are packing accordingly)

WEATHER

Tuscany in the fall is a weather dream come true; daytime temperatures are usually in the 60s and 70s, and nights and early mornings tend to be cool. Please check the 10 day weather forecast prior to arriving.

ELECTRICITY

A generator produces standard 220V electricity, approximately twice as much as the US. European two prong chargers work well for laptops and phones but will not support hairdryers and irons. If you plan on bringing these items, it is best to purchase a surge protector.
